Cinderella

We were commissioned by the V&A to make an animation exploring the history of the Cinderella story to support the exhibition Shoes: Pleasure and Pain, for which we also created the in-exhibition film work.

The Cinderella story has been told and re-told in many weird and wonderful forms for hundreds of years. From the exquisitely embroidered 9th Century Chinese slippers worn by Cinderella's Chinese ancestor Ye Xian, to the glass slippers introduced by Charles Perrault's 17th Century version, it's always been a story about the power of shoes to transform the person who wears them.
